first post... of the wolf

You see that picture up there? That's pretty fuckin' cool ain't it? If you don't already know, that's the cover to our "Join The Pack" EP and it was drawn by none other than Mitch Clem. Mitch Clem is somewhat of an internet cult figure for punk rock nerds who like to read comics about punk rock. He has also done album artwork and flyers for well-known punk bands. You can check out his numerous comics and artwork here: www.mitchclem.com. I am pretty fucking honored to have our band's artwork done by Mitch, because I've been reading his comics since I was 15. I hadn't even touched a boob when I was 15. That seems like forever ago because I touch boobs all the time now.

Ha ha, just kidding.

Anyway, Mitch did an excellent job. I really think it captures the feelings we were trying to convey with the EP. Sometimes I think the awesomeness of the artwork outshines the actual music, because let's be honest, it's a little rough. Then again, I think it accurately represents how we sounded at the time it was recorded, and I am relatively satisfied with the results. The recording process was a good learning experience. I wouldn't necessarily call it fun, but it was interesting. That's not to say the experience was bad by any means, but perhaps we weren't as well rehearsed as we should have been. I kinda like that about it though. There is beauty in its rawness. We were, and still are, a young band after all! And it's the first thing we ever made as a band, and that is fuckin' sweet.

The Join The Pack EP is loosely conceptual. The six metallic punk 'n' roll songs generally revolve around werewolves with some satanic stuff littered throughout. Metal! The opening track "Night of the Wolf" comes rolling out of the feedback, telling a story about being a badass wolf-creature roaming around at night eatin' people. Or maybe we just want to turn them into werewolves as well? That's where the last track, also the title track, comes in. It kind of brings the whole EP together. It might seem otherwise, but to me it is a song of anti-conformity. Other than describing the process of werewolf transformation and the ensuing bloodlust, the song carries a message. We want everyone to ditch the lame aspects of the music scene, and join up with us and become one of our "pack." I envision legions of fans with wolf patches on their denim jackets, howling. (Evil laugh) Some day!

Currently we are slowly writing for our first full-length. While the EP helped forge our sound and what we're about today, I hope our new stuff makes people forget about the old. I want it to be more powerful and more anthemic. The new songs we are working on sound promising. I think we can do it. And hopefully Brant's voice will squeak less this time!

I made a funny!

On that note, we have plenty of copies of Join The Pack left. Get yours now for $5! Also, come see us at shows! We need money if you want t-shirts/goodies and shit. Also, for future reference, check this blog for future in-depth updates. We are trying to use this instead of myspace, because myspace is lame, right? Right.

Fangs.
